In late November 2010, Jemima Catlin received an exciting invitation from HarperCollins Publishers to submit illustration concepts for a potential children’s edition of The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien. Over the next three years, she immersed herself in the world of Middle-earth, ultimately creating more than 150 illustrations. Jemima considers it a great honour to have been personally selected by Christopher Tolkien to illustrate his father’s renowned work.
Her illustrations were published by HarperCollins in September 2013 in a newly illustrated edition of The Hobbit, which has since been released in nine languages worldwide.
